Manufacturing of Stainless Steel Sleeves
At Twin City EDM and Manufacturing, we embrace the challenge of manufacturing complicated, multi-featured components that other vendors shy away from. The orthopedic knee surgery component shown here demonstrates our ability to form unique geometric shapes, create tight corner radii, and meet critical surface finish requirements for the very demanding medical device industry. The precision execution of this single component part was critical to product development, and its successful manufacture required strong attention to detail.
Equipped with 4-axis CNC milling, micro hole burning, and wire EDM machinery, our knowledgeable and highly skilled staff fabricated this thin-walled part from 17-4 PH stainless steel. Featuring overall dimensions of 4.5276″ in length, 0.7480″ in width, and 0.6496″ in height, they successfully achieved dimensional tolerances of ±0.001″ and angular tolerances ±0.5°, which were confirmed by rigorous dimensional and visual inspection processes. Additional operations called for heat treating and dry blasting to a uniform 32 RMS finish.
