Micro Hole Popping

Twin City EDM’s micro-hole EDM services are used to produce small holes ranging from .004″ to .125″ in any conductive material, including traditional metals such as stainless steel, tool steel, and titanium, as well as more exotic materials including Inconel, Nitinol, gold, molybdenum, and conductive ceramics. Our CNC controlled 5-axis EDM is equipped with a robotic arm, automatic tool changers, and bath capability. This advanced technology enables us to undertake micro hole popping to an exceptionally high standard, offering high accuracy and consistency, even on high volume orders. We can produce precision hole patterns, using micro hole burning, in pieces up to 24″ x 25.5″ x 12″ with an accuracy of ±.00002″ and repeatability of ±.00005″. This precision micro hole popping process is typically used in the manufacturing of hypodermic needles, and surgical tubing.
At Twin City EDM, we operate an ISO 9001:2016 certified facility, compliant with ISO 13485:2015, to meet the medical device quality management system regulations and standards. This ensures that no matter what you need us to produce, we have the right processes in place to make sure that quality is maintained at every stage of the production process. In addition to the medical industry, we have experience serving the aerospace and defense industries, and more. Our facility complies with all applicable ASTM and Mil-Spec standards.
