Knee Surgery Component
This project demonstrates our ability to form unique geometric shapes, create tight corner radii, and meet critical surface finish requirements for the very demanding medical device industry. We were able to accomplish intricate details using the wire EDM machining method, which enabled us to cut materials that other machinery would not have been able to handle. The stainless steel knee component was completed using our 5-axis CNC milling, micro hole burning, and 4-axis wire EDM, which enabled our knowledgeable to fabricate a thin-walled part from 17-4 PH stainless steel. It featured overall dimensions of 4.5276″ in length, 0.7480″ in width, and 0.6496″ in height, and successfully achieved dimensional tolerances of ± 0.025″ and angular tolerances ± 0.5°, which were confirmed by rigorous dimensional and visual inspection processes. Additional operations called for heat treating and dry blasting to a uniform 32 RMS finish.
